ATTENDANCE POLICY

Attendance is very important to the success of your child in school. Under state law, ten half-days of unexcused absences during a school year constitute “habitual truancy.” In order for an absence to be excused, we are asking that you call the school before 7:45 A.M.  A copy of the Winchester School Board’s policy on attendance is available on the school’s website.

NHDI RESIDENCY

Our NHDI Residency Program for grades K-4 will begin on Thursday, February 16th.  Students will have dance practice during their Unified Art time to prepare for the end show on Thursday, February 23rd in the evening.

STAFF APPRECIATION

I would like to acknowledge the Winchester School’s Counseling Staff.  Mrs. Weis, Ms. LaClaire, Ms. Ellen, and Ms. Bran work hard each and every day to make sure our students are taken care of mentally and physically.  They are a very important asset to our school!

STUDENT HEALTH REMINDER

The school district provides a full-time Health Services Coordinator located

in the elementary building. She is in charge of the general health of the

school. A child who has a fever, sore throat, ear infection, upset stomach,

diarrhea, skin rash or a bad cough should not be in school. In general, if a

child is too sick to participate in all school activities, including gym and

recess, she/he should remain home. We will send home any child with a

fever or one who is displaying one of the aforementioned symptoms.

WINTER CLOTHING

There seems to be some snow in the upcoming forecast.  If there is snow on the ground, students must have snow pants and boots to leave the blacktop during recess.  If your child does not have winter clothing, please notify your child’s teacher.
