School’s Out for Summer!!!!

June 15, 2018

Dear Parents/Guardians/Grandparents/and Interested Citizens:

Today was last day of school for students. Enjoy the summer break! School resumes on Wednesday, August 29th! This was a work/fun packed week for both parents and students. We hope you had the chance to participate in some of the activities! It is very possible that we will send home a few Newsletters over the summer so from time to time please check.

Here are a few informational items to review:

  • Retirement Recognition – After many years of service to our student and District, Judy Smith and Dee Salonen have decided to retire. The School Board will be recognizing their contributions and expressing their appreciation at the June 21 School Board Meeting in the School Library at 6:30 pm. The public is invited to attend. Please join us!

  • Summer School – Please note that summer school begins on July 9 and concludes on August 9th. The hours are from 8:30am to 11:30 am.

  • Medication Pick-Up: Reminder - It is essential that parents pick up all medication no later than Friday, June 29th. Medication not picked up will be disposed of after that date. Pick up times are between 8:30 am and 3:30 pm. Special arrangements may be made for alternative pick up times prior to June 29th

  • Pre-School Playground – After many years of use by students, the playground structure (swings and slide) will be removed. It has served its purpose. We have been exploring funding to replace this structure and at this time are uncertain when a new structure will be in place. We will keep you posted!

  • New Principal – Congratulations to Val Carey for her new appointment as principal. She has served the school over the years in many different capacities from student teacher, paraprofessional, teacher, curriculum coordinator, technology coordinator, and vice principal. She has the benefit of a unique perspective of “walking a mile” in everyone’s shoes! She will begin assuming many of these responsibilities over the next two weeks. Please join me in welcoming her to this new position!

  • Vice Principal Position – We are in the process of interviewing for this position. An announcement will be made once we have found a certified (certifiable) and qualified candidate.

  • Many Thanks! It has been a pleasure to serve as your Superintendent this past year. I have enjoyed working with and meeting so many amazing and talented people who have help me to address the needs of our District. For that, I am so grateful. One thing is clear: together, we make a huge difference in the lives of our students. I look forward to working with you next year.

Best wishes,

Dr. Genovese, M. Duprey, V. Carey
