May 4, 2018

Dear Parents/Guardians/Grandparents/and Interested Citizens:

Welcome Back

  • Title I “Meet the Author” Program - The first week back was a good one for students as they settled in fairly quickly and the staff offered engaging activities. Students in grades 1 – 5 were treated to an author talking about his experience in writing and publishing books. He had a great sense of humor and we are fortunate that Title I is able to fund these unique learning opportunities. The Author, Marty Kelley, not only provided an entertaining and informative presentation as an author and Illustrator, he also donated some books to our library!  Marty will be back May 8th and 9th to do a writing workshop with our fourth graders. Thank you, Title One!

  • Monday, May 7th Event: ANNUAL 2018 DeMar Marathon Sign-up – Students currently in grades K – 5 are invited to participate in a real marathon. Got a new pair of sneakers to break in? Or not! All you need to do is run or walk a total of 25 mikes during the Spring and Summer. You can find out the details and register for this event by Friday, June 8th. Please complete the registration form being sent home today.

  • Kids on Campus 2018 GO STEM! – On Monday, there will be a presentation on a summer program offered to girls entering grades 6, 7, and 8. The program will be held at Keene State College during the week of July 24th. Please be sure to look for the flyer being sent home Monday.

  • Plant Sale!  Wednesday, May 9th there will be a plant sale in front of the school. Vegetable and flower seedlings will be on sale. These were made possible through the tender loving care of the Middle School Garden Club! Please come out and support their hard work.

  • Extended  “Meet the Author” Opportunity  – On Wednesday, May 9th Marty Kelley will present a program in the school gymnasium beginning at 6 pm for families and students in grades K – 5. It will be a fun night designed to support your child’s interest in reading! How do books get written? Hmmmm!

  • Replacement of Kitchen Roof! We are very fortunate to have funds available, not raised through taxation, to replace the Kitchen roof. We are hopeful to have this project completed the first week in June. It will be a fun lunch menu during this 4 day project with Pizza, cook out, sandwiches etc…. We hope to coordinate this event with Field Day on Friday, June 8th with a rain date of June 12th.

  • Staff Appreciation Week – We are fortunate to have a dedicated staff that devotes numerous hours serving the best interests of students. The Week of May 7 we will be recognizing them with some gestures of appreciation for all they do. Together, we all excel! This event is sponsored by the School Board and the PTA.
