April 13, 2018

Dear Parents/Guardians/Grandparents/and Interested Citizens:

Below are a few informational items:

Parent Teachers’ Association Fundraiser – The PTA is sponsoring a Spring Plant fundraiser. Plants are $20 each and may be paid with cash or check (payable to Winchester PTA). All monies and forms are due by Friday, April 20th. Please be looking for the very colorful Hanging Basket Order Form!

Staff Appreciation Week – We are fortunate to have a dedicated staff that devotes numerous hours serving the best interests of students. The Week of May 7 we will be recognizing them with some gestures of appreciation for all they do. Together, we all excel!

PTA Recognition: Although there are several months of school remaining, we want to be sure to thank the PTA members for supporting so many of the opportunities our children have because of their efforts. Making meetings is sometimes difficult, however, many parents and teachers volunteer their time to assist in fundraising and other activities that students fully enjoy. A special thanks to Barb Depew for serving as president, Katie Del Sesto for serving as Vice President, Ellen Mendelson for being Secretary and Thea Marsh for handling the Treasurer responsibilities. You all make Winchester School a better place.

Title I Evaluation Survey - This past Tuesday there was a Title I meeting that focused on reviewing programs presently offered to all students and explored new ideas that could have a positive impact on student learning. If you missed this meeting, no need to fret, there will be another next Tuesday, April 17th at 3:30 p.m. in the Library. Everyone is invited and we are hopeful many parents will attend. There are survey forms provided to you to help us evaluate the program and we hope you take the opportunity to complete and return one with your child or when you come to the meeting on Tuesday.  All our students can receive assistance from Title I staff and this extra support is beneficial to many students. If you have any questions or comments please direct them to Mel Harrison at the school: 239 – 4381 ex. 256, or email her at

Spring Break: Next week is the last week before the Spring Break. School will not be in session the week of April 23 – April 27. Students return on April 30th.

2018-2019 Calendar: Next year’s calendar has been approved. It is available on the website.
