November 17, 2017

Dear Parents/Guardians/Grandparents/and Interested Citizens:

  • Short Week – Next week we have an abbreviated school week due to the Thanksgiving break: Full days of school on Monday and Tuesday; No School Wednesday, Thursday, Friday. Happy Thanksgiving!
  • Financial Audits Completed – The School District engaged the services of Independent Auditors Roberts and Greene, PLLC to conduct audits for the years 2012 to 2016. This has been a lengthy process and consumed a great deal of time from the business office, providing documents, researching questions and reviewing procedures. We are happy to report that we are now handling financial matters in real time. We expect this to be the new norm! Copies of the Auditor’s report are available to review at the SAU 94 Office.
  • Resignation of Out of District Coordinator - Taylor Ratcliffe, who has been arranging, monitoring, and working with students, parents and staff on all of our Special Education tuition students to Keene, Monadnock, and private schools since 2013 has tendered her resignation. She has earned the respect of all her colleagues and has served the district, students and parents admirably. We wish her well and look forward to her return in future years.
  • Reorganization of Staffing to Meet Student Needs – With the resignation of Mrs. Ratcliffe, and the growing needs of students both in and out of the district, a job description that addresses the present needs of the district has been developed for a Part-Time Director of Student Services. It is our intent to fill this position prior to Mrs. Ratcliffe’s departure in mid-January 2018. Additionally, a job description has been created for a Part-Time Administrative Assistant to support the compliance work of the Director.
  • Energy Efficient Initiative – The district has undertaken a number of energy efficient initiatives. One of them involves removing the ballasts and rewiring the light fixtures and replacing the bulbs with LED lights. We anticipate this will save the district (taxpayers) significant dollars in energy costs and look forward to monitoring this savings once the project is completed. We have a ways to go!
  • Winchester School App – Go to the Apple or Android store.  Type Winchester in the search and follow directions to download the App your mobile device.
  • There will be no Newsletter on next Friday, Thanksgiving week.
