| Supplemental Educational Services |
Supplemental Educational Services(SES) is a program in accordance with the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001(NCLB). This program is authorized and funded by Title I Part A Act and calls for parents of eligible students attending Title I schools that have not made adequate yearly progress (AYP), in increasing student academic achievement for three years, to be provided with opportunities to help ensure that their children achieve at high levels. SES provides extra academic assistance for eligible children. Students from low-income families who are attending Title I schools that are in their second year of school improvement, are eligible to receive these services.
As of September, 2009, Winchester needed to implement this program. Our school was instructed to offer these SES services to 21 students. A state formula determines how many students are eligible in each New Hampshire town. A letter of eligibility was sent to all families that fit the criteria. There were two tutoring companies that would come to the Winchester area. Parents were given a choice between Club Z, an in-home tutoring program, or Alpha Academic Services, that does small group tutoring after school at the school building.
Tutoring began in January, 2010, and we have already met our cap of 21 students through our first mailing to parents. This tutoring will continue through the school year. Parents and the school will receive progress reports and updates from these companies about our students receiving this extra tutoring. Companies providing our students with these services for the academic year 2009-2010 are:
Alpha Academic Services/365 Boston Post Road #362/Sudbury/Ma/01776/Contact:Robert Alvarez/robert@alphaacademics.com
Club Z In-Home Tutoring Services, Inc./15310 Amberly Drive Ste.110/Tampa/FL/33647/Contact: Joseph Cruz/jcruz@clubztutoring.com

Winchester School District 20% SES allocation: $50,300.46
