PE NEWS

Whew, the summer flew right by.  I hope you were able to enjoy some relaxation time and some activities usually best for summer weather.

I’m looking forward to meeting our newest member of Winchester School and seeing all of our “old” friends.

Cherrydale, our annual school wide fundraiser starts this month.  Watch for more information!

*PE is about being physically active.  We do that through fitness, skills and games.  Our PE class is made up of three parts.  Exercise portion, lesson focus and a game.  PE is so much more than sports now.  The goal of PE is to teach students the benefits of being physically active.  PE should show students that being physically fit is good for their body, brain and spirit.

*You can help your student to be ready for PE by having them dressed in comfortable clothing that is “floor friendly” and in sneaker like shoes.  Encouraging your child to bring a positive, open mind attitude is also important.

*In addition to PE students in grades K-5 will have 8 weeks of health.  These health classes teach students the 7 things they need to due daily to be a healthy person.

*Our middle school students are required to change for PE.  It is part of their grade.  Please contact Mrs. Lane if you have any questions or concerns about this policy.

Each 7th and 8th grade homeroom will have PE 5 days a week for 7 weeks.  It is my hope that after the 7 weeks student will see and feel an improvement in their fitness.  This hopefully will encourage them to make fitness a life long daily habit.
The middle school homeroom now having PE is:           8D
