Dear Parents/Guardians/Grandparents/and Interested Citizens:

I have only a few items to bring to your attention:

  • Veterans Day Observance- Please take a few minutes out of your day to honor these dedicated men and women that protect our liberties.

  • Saturday’s Phone Test: Last Saturday we tested the automatic calling system that we use for emergencies and school cancellations. Specifically, we were looking at the quality of the message and our data base phone system. If you did not receive a call, please call Diane at the school so you can be included. Also, thank you for your constructive feedback. We will be making some changes, as a result.

  • Paving Project - It’s done! On Monday we will return to our normal procedure with buses driving behind the school to drop off students and parents dropping-off/ picking-up in front of the school.

  • Recognition – M&L Asphalt, LLC did a wonderful job preparing and paving this area.

  • The Winchester Highway Department assisted in the project by supplying a couple of trucks and manpower to haul gravel and tar.

  • The Board of Selectmen supported the project by providing these resources. This is a great example of cooperation and coordination that resulted in saving the taxpayers money and delivering an excellent product.  Kudos to all!

  • Budget Preparation – The Administrative Team and the School Board have begun the process of looking at the needs of the district and developing a budget for next year.

  • New State Testing System – You will be hearing more about this in the months ahead. The Smarter Balance Test, given to students previously, will not be used to assess students’ progress. It has been replaced with the New Hampshire Statewide Assessment System. Our Curriculum Coordinator, Valerie Carey, has been attending meetings and gathering information in preparation for training staff.

  • Additional Student Support – Under the leadership of Principal Mike Duprey, a job description has been developed to assist the Student Intervention Team’s efforts to provide additional support to students so they can be successful in school. We hope to have a staff member in place in the next couple of weeks.

I wish you all an enjoyable weekend. Thank you for taking the time to read this Newsletter.  Stay warm!

Respectfully,

Dr. Genovese
