Mrs. Hill’s February Newsletter

February is here!

The Groundhog saw his shadow, so it seems we should continue to have  winter if you are so inclined to believe. I like to think spring is right around the corner… it keeps me grounded (no pun intended).

You all received your child’s progress report a while ago. If you haven’t sent it back in, please do so. I will then document you’ve seen it and send it back for you to keep. Cheshire Smiles will be starting on the 6th this week for check ups. If you would like to volunteer your time to help the hygienists (calling children from class, helping with lines and the such, no gross stuff), please let me know.

We have finished our Mid-Year math evaluations, and they will be coming home along with the last test given. Please note that I do not put a number grade on these test. I’m mostly concerned with each skill, rather than the whole test score. The children will also be bringing their workbooks home. If you notice any pages unfinished, encourage your child to finish.

Our class will be starting a unit on report writing this month. We will be writing about dinosaurs. If you have any informational books on dinosaurs you would like to share with the class, we would love it!

The 100th day of school will be Monday if we do not have a snow day. IF we do by chance, it will be the next day. Please send your child to school with a collection of 100 items. These can be as creative as you like… in fact I encourage that! Each class will have their items out for the school to view during a 100s Day Classroom Tour. As a side note, I will not be in school that day. Mrs. Blanchard and a Guest Teacher to be named later will direct the students during this fun day.

Lastly, our Valentine’s Day Party will be the 14th. If you would like to donate a snack, treat or drink, let me know. The party will be @ 2:00. I have told the children that if they choose to hand out cards, they need to have one for every child in the class. A list will be attached. Vacation will be the last week of February and we will be having school on the 18th as well (in case you have it off).

Have a safe and happy last few weeks of winter,

Amy Hill

Missy Blanchard
